Desert of the Gods part 1

In an alternate reality where good luck in war is achieved through sacrificing children, a group of would be offerings make an escape.  Standing on the edge of the forbidden desert, the children escape in the only logical direction - into the Desert of the Gods.  Their goal: find what lies in the desert and stop the endless war.
